CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga — The Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) showed its readiness to respond to disasters during the simultaneous showdown inspection of the PNP Disaster Response Equipment Capabilities held on Wednesday in this camp.
PRO3 director Brig. Gen. Jean S. Fajardo said the activity is in accordance with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to strengthen the capability of government agencies, particularly the Philippine National Police (PNP), in responding to calamities and crises, as part of the government’s Bagong Pilipinas program.
PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco D. Marbil led the inspection conducted simultaneously in different parts of the country to ensure the readiness of the PNP in responding to any type of emergency or disaster.
Fajardo led her men in the thorough inspection of the equipment and capabilities of the units under her leadership.
The equipment included rubber boats, life vests, medical kits, portable lighting systems, communication equipment, and other essential items for search and rescue operations.
The PRO3 personnel also demonstrated their knowledge and skills in disaster response protocols as a result of their continuous training and preparation.
“The readiness of our police is not only measured by the quantity and quality of equipment, but above all, by the skill, discipline, and dedication of every policeman who is ready to respond to the call of service — for the people and for life,” Fajardo said.
The simultaneous inspection is part of the initiative of the PNP Critical Incident Management Committee, in accordance with the theme “Sa Bagong Pilipinas, ang Gusto ng Pulis: Ligtas Ka!” sponsored by Marbil which aims to strengthen the ability of the police to maintain the safety of the community and their own ranks in the face of the challenges of nature and disasters.
The PNP continues to strengthen its disaster preparedness capabilities, in partnership with the national government, as part of the broader goal of protecting every Filipino in times of danger.
