TAIWAN EXTENDS VISA-FREE ENTRY FOR FILIPINOS

THE Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Taiwan has announced a one-year extension of its country’s visa-free entry for Filipinos.

Taiwanese Minister of Foreign Affairs Lin Chia-lung announced the one-year extension on his social media account Friday night after making it public at the Philippine Independence Day reception hosted by the Manila Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei.

Passport holders from Thailand and Brunei are also covered by the visa-free policy extension from August 1, 2025 to July 31, 2026.

The extension was made in line with Taiwan’s New Southbound Policy to improve visa measures for nationals of partner-countries traveling to Taipei. 

“After evaluating the effectiveness of the above measures over the past years, participating agencies decided to extend the trial visa-free entry program for one year for nationals of Thailand, Brunei, and the Philippines from August 1, 2025, to July 31, 2026,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

According to Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Manila, Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs would issue an official announcement on Monday.

Filipinos were first included in Taiwan’s pilot visa-free scheme in November 2017, allowing them to stay visa-free in Taiwan for at least 14 days.
