CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga – Some 2,700 policemen from Central Luzon are set to be deployed to provide additional security for the upcoming Fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on July 28 at the Batasang Pambansa Complex in Quezon City.
Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) director Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio Peñones Jr. said they are prepared to support the Philippine National Police’s (PNP’s) security operations for the upcoming SONA 2025.
Peñones said that in compliance with the directive of PNP chief Gen. Nicolas D. Torre III, the PRO3 has activated sub-task group Central Luzon as part of Task Force Manila Shield, committing a total of 2,700 police personnel to help ensure a safe and orderly conduct of this national event.
He emphasized PRO3’s commitment to public safety and the protection of constitutional rights.
“We are one with the PNP and the entire nation in ensuring the safe and peaceful conduct of SONA 2025. While we are fully prepared to maintain law and order, we also recognize the rights of our fellow Filipinos to freely express their views. Our personnel are trained to act with discipline, professionalism, and respect for human rights,” the Central Luzon top cop said.
President Marcos’ 4th SONA will mark the beginning of the second half of his administration, and large gatherings, including protest actions, are expected.
“We call on the public to cooperate with the authorities, remain vigilant, and follow lawful instructions. PRO3 remains committed to securing our borders and communities before, during, and after the SONA,” Peñones added.
PRO3’s participation reflects its strong support for national initiatives and its crucial role in upholding peace, order, and democracy.
