SAYING that nobody is more important than the Filipino citizen, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. stressed that there will be no sacred cows in the inquiry into anomalous infrastructure projects even as he vowed to protect public interest in the upcoming investigation of an independent body.
In the fourth episode of the BBM Podcast aired on Sunday, President Marcos said the investigation will not spare friends nor allies and will seek the truth to know the scope of corruption involving government infrastructure projects.
“We’re making an omelet. We’re going to have to break some eggs. There’s just no way around it,” the President said.
“Who’s more important? To me, it’s the Filipino citizen. Nobody is more important than Filipinos. Nobody, nobody, not one person is more important.”
Voicing his optimism, the President said there is hope despite the current public predicament and people’s complaints about the hardships that they have to live with.
President Marcos said he is not disheartened and disappointed but “very, very angry” because of the corruption and abuses committed against the people.
As to the independent body that is being organized, the President said it will have broad powers to investigate even the members of Congress.
“They can, they will have the authority to investigate anything and anyone,” the Chief Executive said when asked about the body’s power and authority.
“Otherwise, then, sasabihin may sacred cow na naman o may pinoproteksyunan dahil kasama sa politika, whatever. Pagka nangyari ‘yun, eh wala ring kabuluhan ‘yung kanilang imbestigasyon.”
