FILIPINO nationals in Qatar were advised to stay indoors as Israel launched an airstrike targeting Hamas leaders in Doha.
In an advisory, the Philippine Embassy in Qatar urged all Filipino nationals in the area to remain calm, monitor news from credible sources, and heed the advice of local authorities.
“Stay indoors and avoid public spaces unless absolutely necessary,” the advisory said.
According to the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Israel targeted residential buildings housing several members of the Political Bureau of Hamas in Doha.
Qatar, which has acted as a mediator alongside Egypt in talks on a ceasefire in the almost two-year-old war in Gaza, condemned the action as “cowardly” and called it a flagrant violation of international law.
The ministry said the strikes posed a serious threat to the security and safety of Qataris and residents.
The Israel Defense Forces claimed responsibility for the attack.
Israel said the strike was launched against Hamas leaders.
It added that measures were taken “in order to mitigate harm to civilians, including the use of precise munitions and additional intelligence.”
