CAMP BRIG. GEN. VICENTE LIM, Calamba City, Laguna — Authorities on Sunday recovered suspected dried “high-grade” marijuana or kush worth P1.62 million found floating off Balayan, Batangas.
Prior to the find, the Balayan Municipal Police Station received a call from barangay chairman Roderick Reyes Delos Reyes about the discovery of several sacks containing suspected illegal drugs along the coastline of Bgy. San Piro in Balayan.
The illegal drugs were reportedly spotted floating off the West Philippine Sea and drifted towards Bgy. San Piro.
Police personnel immediately proceeded to the area to verify the information and conduct an investigation.
Upon arrival, authorities confirmed the presence of six sacks containing 27 packs of dried marijuana/kush weighing around 13.5 kilograms, with an estimated street value of ₱1,620,000.
Police Regional Office 4A (Calabarzon) regional director Brig. Gen. Paul Kenneth Lucas commended the vigilance of the barangay officials and the swift response of the Balayan police.
“The timely report of our concerned citizens and barangay officials shows the spirit of cooperation that strengthens our campaign against illegal drugs,” Lucas said.
“We will not let our guard down and will continue to intensify maritime and coastal patrol operations to prevent drug trafficking attempts in our region,” he added.
Lucas reiterated that PRO-Calabarzon remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring a drug-free and safe community, in line with the chief PNP’s Focused Agenda to intensify police operations in the fight against illegal drugs.
