POLICE have intensified its search operations for a parish priest in Leyte who was reported missing.
According to the Leyte Police Provincial Office (LPPO), they are already conducting a case build-up and coordination with concerned police units regarding the reported disappearance of Fr. Edwin Cutz Caintoy, 55, parish priest of San Jose de Malibago Parish in Bgy. Malibago, Babatngon, Leyte.
The LPPO received the report about the missing prelate on December 24.
Based on a closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, Fr. Caintoy, at around 9:08 a.m. on December 23, was heading towards a mall in Abucay district.
“We are actively following up all leads, validating information circulating on social media, and coordinating with local police stations to determine the priest’s movements after his last recorded sighting. Police visibility and monitoring activities have also been strengthened in key areas as part of the ongoing search,” the LPPO said.
The LPPO said all investigative efforts are being carried out to locate the missing priest the soonest possible time.
