POLICE are hunting down the members of the “Akyat-bahay gang” that hit the houses of three brothers in Porac, Pampanga.
In a report to Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) director Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio Penones Jr., Pampanga police director Col. Eugene M. Marcelo said John Paul Yanga, 32, of Phase 1, Bgy. Manigaug Pasig in Porac filed a complaint that his house was attacked by burglars.
Yanga said that after waking up around 4 a.m., he noticed that the sliding window of their house had been opened and the padlocks of their main gate and sari-sari store were destroyed.
Several items were stolen, including four cellular phones with a combined value of P27,000, three gold necklaces worth about P100,000, and P120,000 cash.
Further investigation revealed that the houses of Yanga’s brothers Jomari, 25, and Ismael, 28, both residing in the same compound, were also robbed.
The suspects allegedly gained entry through unlocked sliding windows.
Stolen in the houses of John Paul’s siblings were five cellular phones with an estimated total value of P83,500.
The alleged rampant “akyat-bahay” incidents in the area also came to light following a social media post.
Authorities then coordinated with barangay officials to verify the report and conduct an interview with the victims.
A CCTV footage showed a plateless motorcycle arrived in the village being driven by a suspect wearing a white hooded sweater, with a back rider with black hooded sweater.
The suspects were last seen leaving the vicinity heading toward Angeles City.
Follow-up investigation is ongoing for the identification of the perpetrators and the possible recovery of the stolen items.
