JOINT law enforcement units on Thursday arrested seven individuals in an anti-illegal gambling operation in Concepcion, Tarlac.
According to Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Regional Field Unit 3 chief Col. Grant Gollod, members of the CIDG Tarlac Provincial Field Unit headed by Lt. Col. Arvin Hosmillo, together with personnel from the 21st Special Action Company of the Special Action Force and the Concepcion police launched the operation under “Oplan Roulette” drive.
Arrested were alias “Atong,” 62; alias “Miggy,” 20; alias “Tony,” 43; alias “Herro,” 48; alias “Bade,” 62; alias “Larry,” 49; and alias “Lalic,” 24.
Hosmillo said they caught the suspects engaged in illegal card game locally known as “sakla.”
Confiscated from the suspects were one wooden betting board or “tapete,” two sets of Spanish playing cards, 20 marker chips, and bet money amounting to P13,860 in different denominations.
Gollod said the operation stemmed from information received regarding an alleged illegal cockfighting activity in the area.
Upon arrival at the area, policemen discovered that the cockfight had already concluded, but they saw several individuals actively participating in the illegal gambling activity, prompting the arrest.
The arrested suspects were brought to the CIDG Tarlac PFU for documentation and filing of appropriate charges before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office in Tarlac.
