SEPARATE operations by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Bulacan and Tarlac on Thursday led to the arrest of a provincial most wanted person and an alleged illegal numbers game operator.
According to CIDG Regional Field Unit 3 chief Grant Gollod, operatives of the CIDG Bulacan Provincial Field Unit and the Hagonoy police arrested a most wanted person during the implementation of “Oplan Pagtugis” in Sitio Parong Parong, Bgy. San Agustin, Hagonoy town.
Arrested was alias “Ely,” 38, a call center agent and a resident of the same village.
“Ely” was arrested based on warrants issued by RTC Branch 3 in Kalibo, Aklan, for qualified rape of a minor and sexual assault.
In Tarlac, a joint operation by CIDG Tarlac PFU led by Lt. Col. Arvin Hosmillo and the Gerona police resulted in the arrest of an alleged “STL bookies” operator at the Gerona Public Market in Bgy. Poblacion 3, Gerona.
Nabbed was alias “Alberto,” 58, a resident of Bgy. Tagumbao, Gerona, Tarlac.
Police said the operation was launched following reports from a concerned citizen regarding illegal numbers game activities in the area.
Investigation showed that although the suspect was allegedly an authorized Small Town Lottery representative, he reportedly used his authority as a front for illegal gambling activities by accepting unauthorized bets not sanctioned by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.
Confiscated during the operation were a marked P50 bill, betting slips or “papelitos” containing number combinations, a black ballpen, duplicate betting stubs, and P5,230 in alleged bet collections.
