FOUR people on Sunday night died when the car they were riding was run over by a 10-wheeler dump truck in Bgy. New Cabalan, Olongapo City, Zambales.
A report submitted to Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr. identified the victims as Romnick Tiu, Robie Renz Tiu, Veronica Ng, and Carlo Esguerra.
All four victims sustained severe head and body injuries and were declared dead on arrival at the James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital.
The victims, who just attended a wedding proposal of a relative, were traveling in a Toyota Camry (XPR 424) on their way to Olongapo City from Mariveles, Bataan when they met their tragic death on the highway in Bgy. New Cabalan.
An investigation showed when the car reached the sharp curve portion of the zigzag road on Jose Abad Santos Avenue, a dump truck (CAK 1460) driven by Domingo Faelanca Firmo, 56, of Marilao Bulacan, encroached the opposite lane and collided head on with the victims car around 8 p.m. on Sunday.
The car went underneath the truck, pinning the victims inside the car.
The dump truck driver, who was unharmed, is now under police custody and facing charges. He told probers that he is not feeling well when the incident happened.
It was learned that the truck is used in mining operations in Zambales.
