RIDING-IN-TANDEM gunmen on Friday shot dead the acting village chairman of Bgy. Canlubang in Calamba City, Laguna.
Slain was Mario Cogay, 65, of Blk.52, Lot 8, Asia 2 in Bgy. Canlubang.
A report submitted by Calamba City police chief Lt. Col. Milany Martinez to Laguna Police Provincial Office Director Col. Harold Depositar indicated that Cogay succumbed to three gunshot wounds in the body and head.
The victim was in the balcony of his house drinking coffee when the suspects arrived on a motorcycle at 5 a.m. Friday.
Witnesses said the suspects repeatedly shot Cogay before fleeing towards Asia 1 in Bgy. Canlubang.
Cogay’s live-in partner Dionisia and some witnesses rushed the victim to Global Hospital of Canlubang, where he was declared on arrival by attending physician Dr. Carmela Canillas.
Police are investigating the killing.
