A GRAB driver was stabbed and his car was stolen by two carnappers in Macabebe, Pampanga.
However, alert authorities were able to arrest the suspects.
A report to Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) director Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio Penones Jr. by the Pampanga police said nabbed were alias “Eyas,” 40, of Binondo, Manila; and alias “Drin,” 25, of Bgy. San Juan, TayTay, Rizal.
An investigation showed Grab driver Julian Payoyo, 39, of Guadalupe Nuevo, Makati City, was booked by the suspects from Taytay going to Pampanga on Wednesday.
Upon reaching Bgy. Consuelo in Macabebe, one of the suspects suddenly stab the victim at the back several times while the other suspect hit him with a gun on the forehead before throwing him off the vehicle.
Fortunately, the wounded victim still managed to call for help from bystanders nearby, who helped him inform the soldiers manning an Army detachment a few meters away where he was dropped off by the suspects.
Responding authorities chased the suspects, eventually cornering and arrested them.
Confiscated from the suspects were a gun replica, a hand grenade, a knife and a black bag containing assorted IDs and cellphone.
The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment,
The arrested suspects were brought to the Macabebe Police Station and will be charged with violations of the new Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016 or RA 10883, frustrated murder, RA 9516, and RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
