CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga – A speedy response by the authorities has foiled an attempt by three men on Sunday to snatch two Koreans in Mabalacat, Pampanga.
In a report to Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) director Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio Peñones Jr., Mabalacat City police chief Lt. Col. Efren David said three armed suspects were arrested.
David said prior to the rescue operation, they received a phone call from Clark Development Corporation (CDC) on the alleged abduction attempt involving two Korean nationals at Clark Freeport Zone in Mabalacat City.
The two Korean victims are both residents of Angeles City also in Pampanga.
Police immediately responded and conducted verification. A hot pursuit operation was launched, which resulted in the arrest of the suspects.
Confiscated from the suspects were three loaded cal. .9mm pistols and a cal..45 gun, several magazines, live bullets, identification cards, and a black vehicle used in the foiled kidnap-try.
The Central Luzon top cop commended the swift action of the operatives, pointing out that the operation reflected the effectiveness of the first core pillar of PNP chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III — swift and responsive public service being enforced in Central Luzon.
“This incident proves that our quick response time is not just a policy on paper, but a concrete commitment to ensure swift police action when our communities are in danger. Our personnel responded promptly and decisively, preventing further harm to the victims and ensuring the arrest of the suspects,” Peñones said.
The official underscored the role of the newly-established Korean Help Desk in building closer coordination with the Korean community in the region.
“The Korean Help Desk serves as a bridge of trust and cooperation between the police and our Korean nationals residing and doing business here. This partnership strengthens our capacity to respond to their concerns and assures them that they are safe under the protection of our law enforcement,” Peñones added.
