SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — Police on Thursday arrested a 46-year-old man for allegedly pointing a gun and threatening San Antonio Mayor Arvin Rolly Antipolo during a Teacher’s Day celebration at Central Elementary School in Bgy. Rizal, this town.
A report to Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) director Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio Penones Jr. identified the suspect as alias “Caba,” a resident of Purok 3, Bgy. Burgos, San Antonio.
MSg James B. Dancel, who was on security duty in the area at the time of the incident, immediately arrested the suspect.
Mayor Antipolo was leaving the school premises around 5 p.m. on Thursday when the suspect confronted him for no apparent reason.
A heated argument ensued until the suspect allegedly drew a .9mm pistol and threatened the mayor.
Dancel quickly intervened and arrested Borja on the spot.
Seized from the suspect were the gun, two magazines loaded with 26 live ammunition, and a black body bag.
The suspect was brought to the San Antonio Police Station facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and grave threat.
