VICE MAYOR DIES IN ACCIDENTAL GUN DISCHARGE

VICE Mayor Aimee Paz Lamasan of Dueñas, Iloilo on Wednesday died after she allegedly shot herself by accident at a residential area in Iloilo City.

Dueñas Mayor Robert Martin Pama confirmed Lamasan’s death in a Facebook post on Wednesday night.

“RIP sa pinalangga ko nga Vice Mayor,”  (Rest in peace to may beloved vice mayor) wrote Pama in his post.

 Initial investigation showed the incident occurred around 7 a.m. on Tuesday in Iloilo City’s La Paz district.

Lamasan was allegedly checking her 9-mm Tanfoglio pistol when she accidentally pulled the trigger, causing the firearm to discharge and hit her in the stomach.

Her live-in partner and bodyguard rushed her to the St. Paul’s Hospital.

The firearm involved is now in the custody of the Iloilo City Police Station 3 for proper documentation and examination.
