AN impeachment complaint on Monday was filed against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. before the House of Representatives.
Attorney Andre de Jesus filed the impeachment complaint which was endorsed by Pusong Pinoy Party-list Rep. Jett Nisay.
De Jesus cited graft and corruption, culpable violation of the Constitution, and betrayal of public trust as grounds for Marcos’ impeachment.
It was the first impeachment complaint filed against President Marcos.
De Jesus said among the reasons for the impeachment was the surrender of former President Rodrigo Duterte to the International Criminal Court (ICC).
The complainant said the President resorted to foreign intervention and completely ignored domestic legal processes.
House Secretary General Cheloy Garafil confirmed receiving the impeachment complaint against the President on Monday morning.
