FOUR people aged 19, 18, 16, and 11 on Thursday night were killed in an ambush in Matalam, Cotaato.
Police identified the fatalities as Rashid Mampo, 19; Rica Jane Maidlos, 18; Daryl Diansya, 16, and Russel Kim Diansya, 11.
A fifth victim aged 14 is in serious condition at the hospital.
An investigation showed the victims were on a motorcycle when a group of armed men waylaid them in Bgy. New Abra.
The victims were reportedly heading home after stopping by a nearby house to connect to WiFi when gunmen suddenly attacked them along a dark and isolated stretch of road in Bgy. New Abra around 6 p.m. on Thursday.
The gunmen fled toward Sitio Malupayag after the killing.
Probers are trying to determine the motive for the attack, including personal grudge or a land dispute.
Relatives told media that the family had only been living in Bgy. New Abra for a little over a month after moving from Davao City.
An investigation is ongoing.
