A POLICE officer who has been missing for days on Saturday was found dead and decomposing inside an under-construction septic tank in Bgy. Mojon, Malolos City, Bulacan.
In a report to Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) director Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio Peñones Jr., the Bulacan police identified the victim as PSSg Renato Casauay Jr., 46, assigned at the Philippine Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG), and a resident of Aldama St., Sta. Barbara, Baliuag, Bulacan.
The cop-victim failed to return home and was reported missing by his wife on January 25.
Two witnesses told police that one of the suspects went to the house of the victim and confessed to the family that he shot Casauay dead.
The suspect allegedly claimed that the victim made a joke that offended him, which triggered the shooting.
After the killing, the suspect disposed of the victim’s body by throwing it into a septic tank in Felicissima Village in Bgy. Mojon.
Police identified the suspects as alias “Mon,” the alleged gunman residing in Bgy. Sto. Niño, Paombong, Bulacan who remains at-large; alias “Sampol,” a resident of the place of incident, who has been arrested; alias “Ricio,” the father of Sampol who is also at-large; alias “Encio,” a member of the Philippine National Police (PNP) assigned at the Malolos City Police Station and, eight John Does.
Alias “Encio” was arrested for allegedly failing to immediately effect the arrest of the gunman.
Meanwhile, after receiving the report, operatives of the Malolos City police in coordination with the Police Intelligence Branch, Police Intelligence and Detection Management Branch, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, Police Drug Enforcement Group Special Operations Unit 3, Baliuag police, and other concerned units went to Felicissima Village.
Operatives found the decomposing body of Casauay inside the septic tank.
The cop-victim’s helmet and Givi box were also recovered at the site.
The Bulacan Forensic Unit and Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) were requested to process the crime scene and conduct further examination.
Murder charges are being readied for filing in court against the suspects.
