THE Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Regional Office \u2013 VII on Monday or two days before Christmas released a total of P1.4 million worth of financial assistance under the Agarang Kalinga at Saklolo Para sa mga OFW na Nangangailangan (AKSON) Fund to 33 OFW-beneficiaries.<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Beneficiaries were returning OFWs who experienced different types of distressful circumstances throughout their stay abroad while they strived to provide a better life for themselves and their families.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The program aims to allow these OFWs and their next-of-Kin (NOKs) to recover from their unfortunate experiences brought about their deployment in foreign lands and gain the ability to return to normalcy and reintegrate themselves back to society.<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Fourteen beneficiaries came from the various municipalities of Cebu province; nine from Cebu City; one from Cebu City; four from Lapulapu City; three from Bohol; while two came from Negros Oriental for a total of 33 beneficiaries.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

OIC-Regional Director Karl Frederick L. Arriola, together with the chiefs from the different divisions, personally handed over the cheques to beneficiaries during the turn-over ceremony held at the DMW RO-VII Office.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

As of 23 December 2024, the DMW RO-VII has released over P5 million worth of financial assistance under the AKSON Funds benefiting 95 OFWs and\/or their next-of-kin.<\/strong><\/p>\n
