The historic win made Vasquez the first Filipino and Asian to claim the prestigious title.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cThank you sa iyo dahil pinasikat mo naman \u2018yung Pilipino. Sikat na naman tayo dahil sa ginawa mo,\u201d the Chief Executive told the Filipino champion during the latter\u2019s courtesy call in Malacanang.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The First Lady recognized the prolific singer\u2019s feat. \u201cYou made us proud,\u201d she told Vasquez.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n During the visit, Vasquez serenaded the President and the First Lady with their favorite song, \u201cImagine\u201d by The Beatles, and his winning rendition of \u201cA Million Dreams.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n President Marcos\u2019 sister, Irene, was also present during the courtesy call, along with Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Acting Secretary Cesar Chavez, Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Gracia Frasco, and other officials.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Vasquez was joined by his family during the courtesy call.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n President Marcos also lauded Vasquez for his generosity and humility.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cYou\u2019re so generous. Hindi ka nang-aagaw ng eksena. It\u2019s all about the music, it\u2019s not about you. You\u2019re humble. It\u2019s not about making pasikat, it\u2019s about making the music sound good,\u201d he said.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The President was referring to Vasquez\u2019s performances.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Vasquez, a 33-year-old Doctor of Dental Medicine graduate from Ozamiz City, Misamis Occidental, thanked the First Couple for the recognition. \u201cLaking tulong po talaga ng recognition,\u201d Vasquez told the First Couple.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" PRESIDENT Ferdinand R.
