Over 60 people are feared dead after an American Eagle passanger plane on Wednesday night collided mid-air with a Black Hawk military helicopter before crashing into the Potomac River near Washington, DC. <\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The mid-air collision occurred as the American Airlines jet was approaching Ronald Reagan National Airport.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n “At this point we do not believe there were any survivors,” District of Columbia fire chief John Donnelly said in a press conference Thursday.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n According to Donnelly, 28 bodies had been recovered from the river so far.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Authorities described the incident as the deadliest US air disaster in more than 20 years.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n American Airlines confirmed 60 passengers and four crew members were aboard the jet, while U.S. officials said the helicopter was carrying three soldiers on a training flight.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Among the passengers of the plane were ice skaters and coaches returning from events in Wichita, Kansas, including Russian-born former world champions Yevgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n “We have been told that there are no survivors.
