THE House of Representatives on Wednesday impeached Vice President Sara Duterte.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n At the House plenary session on Wednesday, 215 of the 306 House members supported the fourth and fresh impeachment complaint against VP Duterte.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The number was more than 1\/3 or over 102 <\/strong>threshold required <\/strong>for a complaint to be transmitted to the Senate for trial.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The President’s son, House Senior Deputy Majority Leader and Ilocos Norte 1st District Representative Sandro Marcos, was first to sign the said complaint.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Speaker Martin Romualdez approved the motion to transmit the impeachment complaint to the Senate.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n “There is a motion to direct the Secretary-General to immediately endorse to the Senate the impeachment complaint. Having been filed by more than one-third of the membership of the House, or a total of 215 members, is there any objection? The Chair hears none. The motion is approved. The Secretary-General is so directed,” Romualdez said.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n House Secretary General explained that the impeachment complaint approved by lawmakers cited “six major allegations” against Duterte. They are 1. Conspiracy to Assassinate President Marcos, First Lady, and Speaker Romualdez. 2. Malversation of P612.5 Million in Confidential Fund. 3. Bribery and Corruption in DepEd.4. Unexplained Wealth and Failure to Disclose Assets 5. Involvement in Extrajudicial Killings (Davao Death Squad) and 6. Destabilization, Insurrection, and Public Disorder<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cThis is about upholding the Constitution and ensuring that no public official, regardless of their position, is above the law,\u201d Romualdez said after the vote.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The House leadership said the three other impeachment complaints filed against Duterte last December will be archived.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The House also appointed 11 members to serve as prosecutors in the impeachment trial namely Rep. Gerville “Jinky Bitrics” Luistro, Rep. Romeo Acop, Rep. Ramon Rodrigo Gutierrez, Rep. Joel Chua, Rep. Raul Angelo “Jil” Bongalon, Rep. Loreto Acharon, Rep. Marcelino Libanan, Rep. Arnan Panaligan, Rep. Ysabel Maria Zamora, Rep. Lorenz Defensor, and Rep.
