{"id":12107,"date":"2025-02-27T06:29:00","date_gmt":"2025-02-26T22:29:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/?p=12107"},"modified":"2025-02-27T08:30:03","modified_gmt":"2025-02-27T00:30:03","slug":"bi-deports-98-chinese-pogo-workers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/index.php\/2025\/02\/27\/bi-deports-98-chinese-pogo-workers\/","title":{"rendered":"BI DEPORTS 98 CHINESE POGO WORKERS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>THE Bureau of Immigration (BI) successfully deported a total of 98 Chinese nationals after being caught working in an illegal POGO company.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>The deporation was in line with the government\u2019s ongoing crackdown on illegal offshore gaming operations.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.\u2019s earlier issued a directive to put an end to POGO operations in the country, as part of broader efforts to protect national security and curb transnational crimes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>The deportees boarded a Philippine Airlines chartered flight to Xi\u2019an, China on the night of February 25.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>A total of 91 Chinese nationals were part of the 450 individuals arrested on January 8 in a commercial building in Para\u00f1aque City, while another seven were from the BI\u2019s detention facility in Bicutan, Taguig.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado said the chartered flight was arranged by the Chinese Embassy as part of their coordinated efforts to expedite the removal of foreign nationals involved in illegal POGO activities.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Since January, the BI has apprehended more than 500 foreign nationals in separate operations in Para\u00f1aque, Cavite, and Pasay City. Of these, a total of 226 have already been deported.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Viado assured the public that deportation efforts remain a top priority.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cWe are working relentlessly with our partner agencies to ensure the swiftest deportation possible,\u201d said Viado.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cThis is a clear message that the Philippines will not be a safe haven for illegal activities,\u201d &nbsp;he added.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Additionally, 10 Vietnamese nationals were also deported on the same date via NAIA Terminal 1.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Viado reaffirmed the BI\u2019s commitment to removing illegal foreign workers at the soonest possible time.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cWe will continue to find ways to make the process even faster.
