{"id":12575,"date":"2025-03-18T10:26:23","date_gmt":"2025-03-18T02:26:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/?p=12575"},"modified":"2025-03-20T10:31:55","modified_gmt":"2025-03-20T02:31:55","slug":"man-takes-brother-hostage-in-tondo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/index.php\/2025\/03\/18\/man-takes-brother-hostage-in-tondo\/","title":{"rendered":"MAN TAKES BROTHER HOSTAGE IN TONDO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>A 30-year-old man on Monday took his brother hostage in Tondo, Manila.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Manila Police District (MPD) identified the suspect as alias \u201cAlex,\u201d \u00a031, of Recto Avenue, Delpan St., Tondo.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>The victim was \u201cAlex\u2019s\u201d younger brother, \u201cArnel,\u201d 28.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Investigation showed prior to the hostage-taking, the brothers had a heated argument after the victim allegedly declined to accompany the suspect to Quiapo.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>The suspect said he needed to transfer place after receiving a death threat in \u00a0their Tondo neighborhood.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Irked suspect grabbed a knife and held his brother hostage.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Witnesses immediately sought he help of village officials who called the police.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Authorities said the suspect initially refused to surrender, demanding that his mother be present before complying with the police.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>After efforts to locate his mother, the suspect peacefully surrendered &nbsp;and turned over the knif he used in the hostage-taking that last more than 30 minutes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A 30-year-old man on Monday took his brother hostage in Tondo, Manila.
