THE National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Monday reported that the index crimes in Metro Manila dropped by 60.18 percent during the Holy Week or from April 14 to 20.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n According to NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin, 45 focus crimes were lower than the 113 incidents logged in the same period last year.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Data showed that the most substantial decline was in murder, with only one case or down from eight incidents in 2024.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Rape has a sharp 77.78 percent drop or from 18 cases down to 4; physical injuries — 66.67 percent or 12 cases down to 4; theft — 56.36 percent or 55 cases down to 24; and carnapping — 75 percent or a decline from 4 to 1.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The NCRPO said their Case Solution Efficiency (CSE) surged to 88.89 percent from last year’s 73.45 percent, “reflecting enhanced investigative capabilities.”<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cNCRPO is just fulfilling our mandate of peace and security. We owe this to the public and we are duty-bound to serve and protect, with competence and integrity,\u201d said Aberin in a statement.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Philippine National Police (PNP) said the observance of Semana Santa 2025 nationwide was generally peaceful, with no major untoward incidents disrupting the week-long religious tradition.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n PNP chief Gen.
