{"id":13418,"date":"2025-04-28T00:46:07","date_gmt":"2025-04-27T16:46:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/?p=13418"},"modified":"2025-04-29T00:33:17","modified_gmt":"2025-04-28T16:33:17","slug":"pro3-clarifies-arrest-of-aeta-protesters-in-mount-pinatubo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/index.php\/2025\/04\/28\/pro3-clarifies-arrest-of-aeta-protesters-in-mount-pinatubo\/","title":{"rendered":"PRO3 CLARIFIES ARREST OF AETA PROTESTERS IN MOUNT PINATUBO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>BY KEVIN GALANG<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga \u2014 The Police Regional Office 3 confirmed that several Aetas were arrested on April 18 during a protest at Mount Pinatubo crater in Capas, Tarlac.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>According to the PRO3, the arrests were based on alleged violations of local ordinances and national laws, including obstruction of public passage and unauthorized entry into an environmentally-protected area.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>The incident has since caught the attention of the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>The PRO3 assured the public that the case is being handled with full transparency, respect for cultural rights, and adherence to due process.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Initial reports from the Capas police said the arrests were carried out in accordance with police operational procedures, ensuring that the rights of those involved were protected.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cAng lahat ng aksyon na isinagawa ng ating mga tauhan ay alinsunod sa umiiral na batas, kabilang na ang Indigenous Peoples\u2019 Rights Act (RA 8371), at mga patnubay ng PNP hinggil sa makataong pagtrato sa mga nasa kustodiya,\u201d said PRO3 director Brig. Gen.
