FILIPINO climber engineer Philipp Santiago II died while preparing to scale the highest peak of Mt. Everest<\/strong>, it was reported on Thursday.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n In a report \u00a0by the Himalayan Times, Santiago passed away while he and the members of the \u00a0Mountaineering Association of Krishnanagar- Snowy Everest Expedition\u00a02025 prepared for the summit push on Wednesday night.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Santiago was part of the expedition.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cHe died at the place where he was resting\u2026 We are consulting to bring his body back to the base camp,\u201d Bodha Raj Bhandari of Snowy Horizon Treks and Expedition, which organized the climb, said.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The cause of Santiago\u2019s death is yet to be determined.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Camp 4 is situated on the \u201cDeath Zone\u201d of Mt. Everest, where oxygen level is extremely dangerous at 26,000 feet above sea level.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Broadcast journalist Emil Sumangil, cousin of Santiago, is asking for prayers for Santiago.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n “Our family is asking for prayers for the eternal repose of the soul of our beloved Engr. Philipp PJ Santiago II.
