HOUSE Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez condemned the killing of a House official on Sunday in Quezon City.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Slain was Director Mauricio \u201cMorrie\u201d Pulhin, chief of the technical staff of the House Committee on Ways and Means.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n A report from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said that Pulhin was with his family at the Don Jose Heights Subdivision\u2019s clubhouse at around 2:55 p.m. on Sunday for his daughter\u2019s 7th birthday celebration when two unidentified armed men suddenly appeared and shot him.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The assasins fled on a motorcycle. <\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Witnesses told police that one of the assailants even fired a shot at the duty guard stationed at the main gate during their escape.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Pulhin was rushed to the FEU-Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cI am deeply saddened and outraged by the tragic death of Director Mauricio \u2018Morrie\u2019 Pulhin. This crime must not go unpunished. Justice must prevail, Romualdez said\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cWe condemn this brutal act of violence in the strongest possible terms,\u201d he added.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Romualdez urged the Philippine National Police (PNP), the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), and all concerned authorities to conduct an in-depth investigation into the killing of Pulhin.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cWhile it is too early to determine the motive behind this heinous crime, we call on the PNP, the NBI, and all law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough, impartial, and swift investigation,\u201d Romualdez said.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cAll angles must be pursued, including, but not limited to, his professional affiliations so that the truth may come out and justice may be served,\u201d the House leader said.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cWe will do everything in our power to ensure that those behind this crime\u2014whether the perpetrators or the masterminds\u2014are brought to justice,\u201d he added.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Police are now hunting down the gunmen.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" HOUSE Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez condemned the killing of a House official on Sunday in Quezon City.
