INIHAYAG ni Information and Communications Technology Secretary Ivan John Uy noong Lunes na milyun-milyong katao ang naapektuhan sa data breach sa sistema ng Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth). “Unfortunately it is a significant amount, millions. We are 90% done baka lumiit pa ‘yung numero kasi may nakikita kaming duplicates, may mga files na duplicate,\u201d sagot ni Uy sa tanong kung ilan ang naapektuhan sa data hacking ng PhilHealth. Aniya, maaaring ibenta ng mga hacker ang na-leak na mga impormasyon sa mga scammer at phisher kung isasaalang-alang na hindi nakuha ng mga salarin ang perang hiniling nila. “If these are operating from third countries that are safe haven for them, hindi natin mapi-pin down iyon. Nauna nang sinabi ng DICT na ini-leak ng mga hacker ang nakompromisong data mula sa pag-atake ng ransomware laban sa PhilHealth. Ayon p sa DICT, ang grupong Confucius ay nag-upload ng kopya ng mahigit 600 gigabytes ng mga file sa isang website at isang Telegram channel pagkalipas ng 4 p.m. noong Oktubre 5, dalawang araw pagkatapos ng deadline para sa pagbabayad ng ransom na $300,000 (P17 milyon) ay nag-expire. Makikita sa isang video ng nag-leak na impormasyon ang mga larawan, bank card, at mga resibo ng transaksyon ng mga biktima, at maraming iba pang impormasyon. Nilinaw ng DICT na nag-leak ang transaction data ng ilang miyembro ng PhilHealth ngunit hindi apektado ng cyberattack ang database ng mga miyembro. Sinabi rin ni Uy na lumabas sa kanilang pagsusuri na wala nang natirang data ng Medusa malware sa database ng mga miyembro. “They will try to monetize the information by selling to scammers, to phishers para gamitin ‘yung data nila,\u201daniya.
