“I’m supporting Senate President Escudero. I think maganda ang takbo nitong last year,\u201d Cayetano said in a media interview on Thursday.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cWalang perfect na majority, walang perfect na senators or Senate President. \u2018Pag nakita mo na may energy, may vision, may prinsipyo (ganoon dapat),\u201d he added.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n He noted that Escudero appears to have the numbers with a month left before the opening of the 20th Congress in late July, past Senate leadership contests have shown how fast alliances can shift.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cUntil that morning (start of the 20th Congress), lahat pwedeng mangyari. Pwedeng magkaroon ng bagong kandidato, pwedeng magkaroon ng bagong koalisyon,\u201d he said.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Cayetano also said there are other potential contenders for the Senate presidency but only Escudero has so far talked to him.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cY\u2019ung iba, nababasa ko lang (sa balita),\u201d he said.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Despite ongoing talks about Senate leadership, Cayetano said he is also preparing for possible changes in committee chairmanships during the expected reorganization.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cYung present kong committees marami, so may bibitawan ako. Wala pa naman akong tinitingnan exactly, but syempre, y\u2019ung Blue Ribbon, Justice Committee, anything for lawyers, nandyan din \u2018yan,\u201d he said.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cSabi ko lang kay Senate President Escudero, basta lahat ng pang-abogado, available ako.
