Marcos Jr. extended congratulations to Filipino tennis sensation Alex Eala for making history as the first Filipino to reach a Women\u2019s Tennis Association (WTA) 250 singles final.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n President Marcos said the entire nation stood behind the 20-year-old Eala, who lost a closely fought match to 19-year-old Australian Maya Joint in the 2025 Eastbourne Open final in the United Kingdom.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cTuloy ang laban, Alex! <\/strong> We all watched you make history as the first Filipino to reach a WTA 250 singles final,\u201d the President posted on social media Saturday night after watching the championship match.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cThat alone is already a victory for our country and for the millions of Filipinos who stand proudly behind you. ,\u201d the President added.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cYou\u2019ve made us all proud! Keep going, your best is yet to come. \u201d the President added.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Eala continues her breakthrough run since reaching the 2025 WTA Miami Open semifinals in March after beating three Grand Slam champions at age 19.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Eala will next make her debut in the prestigious Wimbledon Championships in London, which begins next week.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n President Marcos earlier said he would watch Eala\u2019s finals match, adding the country is already proud of her feat of breaking into the WTA finals.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cCan\u2019t wait to watch Alex Eala make history in the Philippines\u2019 first-ever WTA Finals. ,\u201d the President said.<\/strong>\u201cWe\u2019re already so proud, Alex.
