THE National Police Commission (Napolcom) is conducting an investigation into allegations that some policemen were involved in the disappearance of over 100 cockfighting enthusiasts.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Napolcom Vice Chairperson and Executive Officer attorney Rafael Vicente Calinisan directed the Inspection, Monitoring and Investigation Service (IMIS) to conduct a motu proprio investigation regarding reports that several police officers were behind the missing \u201csabungeros.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Earlier, alias “Totoy,” one of the accused in the disappearance of the cockfighting aficionados, linked certain police officers, a security guard from a cockfighting arena in Manila, and a showbiz personality allegedly connected to the mastermind behind the crime, into the case.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n According to Calinisan, Napolcom will not hesitate to remove from service any police personnel found to have colluded with the group allegedly responsible for killing the victims and dumping their bodies in Taal Lake in Batangas.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Calinisan likewise called on the complainants to file a lformal complaint with the Napolcom to expedite the resolution of the case, in coordination with the Department of Justice (DOJ), and the Philippine National Police\u2013Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG).<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n “I am appealing to alias \u2018Totoy\u2019 to appear and submit his complaint affidavit with the Napolcom so we can investigate and hear this case with absolute dispatch. There needs to be swift justice, and we will not hesitate to dispense swift justice,” Calinisan said.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cTo clarify, the case to be filed with the Napolcom, if any, would be an administrative one, to determine the fitness of the policemen involved to remain in police service.
