President Marcos led the launching of the free public Wi-Fi site at the MacArthur Landing Memorial National Park in Palo, reaffirming the government\u2019s commitment to expand digital connectivity across the country.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The initiative, spearheaded by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), is part of the Free Public Internet Access Program (FPIAP) aimed at bridging the digital divide and improving public access to vital online services.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n During the event, President Marcos conducted an internet speed test with DICT Secretary Henry Aguda to demonstrate the reliability of the service.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The President engaged in an online conversation with schools and health units from Batanes, Zambales, Marawi, and Tawi-Tawi, showcasing the far-reaching benefits of the program. The test showed stable internet connectivity.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cGamitin niyo nang mabuti \u2018yung internet natin para connected na tayo sa buong mundo. Hindi lamang sa Pilipinas, sa buong mundo,\u201d President Marcos said.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n After the testing, President Marcos shared a light moment with the students as they gathered for a group photo, smiles and excitement reflecting the significance of the day.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n When the President asked the students if they had accessed the free Wi-Fi, the students enthusiastically answered a resounding yes.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The crowd also shouted \u201cBBM! BBM! BBM!\u201d to show appreciation to the President.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n STUDENTS, TEACHERS, HEALTH WORKERS, LOCAL LEADERS THANKED MARCOS<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Students, teachers, health workers, and local leaders have expressed heartfelt gratitude to President Marcos Jr. for the free public Wi-Fi initiative, which aims to provide reliable and accessible internet in public places, benefiting schools, barangay halls, and health centers.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Caithlyn Monge, a Grade 10 student from Pawing National High School in Palo, Leyte, shared how the free Wi-Fi will help ease the challenges faced by many learners in accessing educational information.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cPara po sa akin, hindi lang po siya makakatulong sa akin kung hindi sa maraming students na rin. Katulad rin po sa mga mahihirap na walang access sa internet and also para mapapadali ang aming mga learning progress na rin po and mas mapapalawak pa po ang aming kaalaman,\u201d Monge said.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n For Janine Ronda, a Grade 10 teacher at the same school, the free Wi-Fi initiative will significantly benefit their teaching, especially now that digital and online learning tools are widely used.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cVery useful siya for us teachers in the sense na madaling ma-access \u2018yung mga materials na gagamitin namin for lessons. Mas madali sa amin na maipakita sa kanila \u2018yung mga materials na gagamitin namin sa pagtuturo,\u201d Ronda said.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cIn behalf of our school, maraming salamat po, Pangulong Marcos. Sana maipagpatuloy po \u2018yung pagbibigay niyo ng mas madaling tulong para sa mga students and teachers. Mabuhay po kayo!\u201d Ronda said.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Meanwhile, barangay health worker Arlita Dacatimbang explained how important the free Wi-Fi is in reinforcing public safety and healthcare, especially during emergencies.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cMalaki ang maitutulong ng free public Wi-Fi sa amin kasi kung walang load ang isang tao na nandito, if ever nandito siya at may problema, madali siyang makakapag-chat sa mga kaibigan or sa mga pamilya, pulis or kung saan anong ahensya na puwede makatulong sa kanya,\u201d Dacatimbang said.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Palo resident Janele Esmade highlighted the benefits of the program for financially struggling families with children in school.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cThe Free Wi-Fi, malaking tulong siya sa mga estudyante lalo na sa mag estudyante na kapos like wala talaga silang pambili ng load kasi magagamit nila ito sa pag-aaral nila.
