ONE was confirmed dead, another was rescued alive, while two others remain missing in a landslide in Silang, Cavite on Thursday morning.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The names of the victims, all construction workers,  were witheld pending notification to their families.<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The four, including two brothers, were resting in their barracks in Bgy. <\/strong>Cabangaan, Silang, Cavite, when the soil, along with a concrete wall, suddenly collapsed, hitting their makeshift quarters.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The other construction workers, who saw the collapsing soil and wall, ran for their lives.<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The incident occurred during heavy downpour brought by the southwest monsoon and typhoons \u201cDante\u201d and \u201cEmong.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Rosario Jose, senior administrative assistant, Silang Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), said the soil gave way.  around 10 a.m. Thursday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cBigla na lang pong gumuho \u2018yung lupa at \u2018yung mataas na pader katabi ng ginagawa naming bakod. Nagluluto kami noon at nakita namin ang pagguho kaya nagtakbuhan kami,\u201d a fellow laborer told probers.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cLumambot po marahil ang lupa dahil sa patuloy na pag-ulan,\u201d he added.<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Members of the Silang and Tagaytay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, together with personnel of the Bureau of Fire Protection headed by FCSupt. Roy Roderick Aguto, Regional Director, BFP Region 4A and the supervision of FSInsp. Melchor Medes, acting Tagaytay City Fire Marshall, and the Philippine National Police rushed to the site and immediately conducted search and rescue operation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

During the initial operations, responders were able to rescue a 50-year-old survivor and retrieved one body from the site.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The laborer who survived the tragedy was brought to the nearest hospital for medical atention.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Authorities continue their search for the two workers who remain missing.<\/strong><\/p>\n
