THE Philippines and India on Tuesday formally elevated their bilateral ties through a declaration on the establishment of a Strategic Partnership that further deepens cooperation in areas such as defense, security, trade, science and technology, and tourism.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Prime Minister Narendra Modi witnessed the signing and exchange of multiple agreements and terms of reference, including those facilitating military-to-military staff talks between their respective military forces from the three services, as well as enhanced maritime cooperation between their coast guards.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The agreements were exchanged on the second day of the State Visit of President Marcos to India from August 4 to 8, 2025.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n President Marcos and Prime Minister Modi witnessed the exchange of bilateral agreements between their respective officials during a joint press conference at the Hyderabad House in New Delhi.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n These landmark agreements mark a significant step in expanding Philippine-Indian relations beyond traditional areas, with President Marcos saying that this relationship is anchored on the aspiration for a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific region.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The agreements exchanged are as follows:<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Exchange of Declaration on the Establishment of Strategic Partnership between the Republic of the Philippines and the Republic of India;<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Plan of Action for the Implementation of the Strategic Partnership between the Republic of the Philippines and the Republic of India (2025-2029);<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Terms of Reference between the Philippine Air Force and the Indian Air Force on Air Staff Talks;<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Terms of Reference between the Philippine Army and the Indian Army on Army-to-Army Staff Talks;<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Terms of Reference between the Philippine Navy and the Indian Navy on Navy-to-Navy Staff Talks;<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Treaty on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters between the Government of the Republic of the Philippines and the Government of the Republic of India;<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Treaty on Transfer of Sentenced Persons between the Government of the Republic of the Philippines and the Government of the Republic of India;<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Programme of Cooperation in the field of Science and Technology for the period of 2025-2028 between the Department of Science and Technology of the Republic of the Philippines and the Department of Science and Technology of the Republic of India;<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Implementation Program between the Department of Tourism of the Government of the Republic of the Philippines and the Ministry of Tourism of the Government of the Republic of India on Tourism Cooperation (2025-2028);<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of the Philippines and the Government of the Republic of India on Cooperation in the Field of Digital Technologies;<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Statement of Intent between the Philippine Space Agency, Philippines, and the Indian Space Research Organisation, the Republic of India, on Cooperation on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space;<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Terms of Reference for Enhanced Maritime Cooperation between the Philippine Coast Guard and the Indian Coast Guard;
