{"id":15709,"date":"2025-08-09T04:46:32","date_gmt":"2025-08-08T20:46:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/?p=15709"},"modified":"2025-08-09T04:50:10","modified_gmt":"2025-08-08T20:50:10","slug":"aklan-vice-mayor-shot-dead-by-town-councilor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/index.php\/2025\/08\/09\/aklan-vice-mayor-shot-dead-by-town-councilor\/","title":{"rendered":"AKLAN VICE MAYOR SHOT DEAD BY MUNICIPAL COUNCILOR"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>THE vice mayor of Ibajay, Aklan on Friday was shot dead by an incumbent councilor<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>inside the Sangguniang Bayan office in the municipality.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Police identified the victim as Vice Mayor Julio Estolloso, 50.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>The suspect was councilor Mihrel Senatin, 43.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>The shooting occurred inside the Sangguniang Bayan office at <\/strong><strong>9:15 a.m. &nbsp;on Friday.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>An investigation showed that prior to the killing, the councilor had asked a Sangguniang Bayan staff member for copies of all ordinances passed during his term.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>The councilor then approached the vice mayor and reportedly asked, \u201cVice, anong kasalanan ko sa iyo?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Senatin then suddenly drew a gun and shot Estolloso in the chest.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>The vice mayor was rushed to Ibajay District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Responding policemen arrested the councilor.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>An investigation is ongoing to determine the motive for the killing.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Authorities said there was no known animosity between the suspect and the victim, who belong to the same political party.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Senatin is now detained at the Ibajay Custodial Facility facing murder charges.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE vice mayor of Ibajay, Aklan on Friday was shot dead by an incumbent councilor inside the Sangguniang Bayan office in the municipality.
