BY KEVIN GALANG<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n AUTHORITIES on Wednesday night seized some P2.3-million worth of \u201cdouble-dead\u201d meat and arrested seven suspects in Marilao, Bulacan.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n In a report to Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) director Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio I. Pe\u00f1ones Jr., two trucks carrying about 12,500 kilos of \u201chot meat\u201d in 430 boxes were intercepted in Bgy. Sta. Rosa 1 in Marilao.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cNatiyempuhan po ng ating roving patrol na ikinakarga sa mga truck \u2018yung mga karne. Hiningan po ng dokumento \u2018yung mga nagkakarga pero walang maipakita kaya kinumpiska ang mga karne,\u201d Marilao acting police chief Col. Jordan Santiago said.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Based on the label, it was also found out that the seized meat were already expired.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Police added that upon verification, the National Meat Inspection Commission (NMIS) certified that the confiscated products were \u201chot meat.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cThis successful operation shows the strong partnership of the PNP with local government and regulatory agencies in safeguarding the welfare of our people,\u201d Pe\u00f1ones said.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cPRO3 will remain vigilant against illegal practices that endanger public health and undermine consumer protection,\u201d he added.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The arrested suspects are now detained at the Marilao Municipal Jail facing charges for violation of Republic Act <\/strong> 9296 or the Meat Inspection Code of the Philippines.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" BY KEVIN GALANG AUTHORITIES on Wednesday night seized some P2.3-million worth of “double-dead” meat and arrested seven suspects in Marilao, Bulacan.
