{"id":16857,"date":"2025-10-07T00:04:46","date_gmt":"2025-10-06T16:04:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/?p=16857"},"modified":"2025-10-07T00:04:47","modified_gmt":"2025-10-06T16:04:47","slug":"bridge-in-alcala-cagayan-collapses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/index.php\/2025\/10\/07\/bridge-in-alcala-cagayan-collapses\/","title":{"rendered":"BRIDGE IN ALCALA, CAGAYAN COLLAPSES"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>A BRIDGE in Alcala, Cagayan on Monday collapsed.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Piggatan Bridge in Alcala town which was built in 1974 gave way while several 10-wheeler trucks were passing over.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>The collapse reportedly occurred around 5:30 p.m. Monday.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Piggatan Bridge fell as an 18-wheeler trailer truck loaded with palay was crossing.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>No injuries have been reported.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Members of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), Philippine National Police-Alcala, and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) immediately arrived at the area to &nbsp;conduct rescue and clearing operations.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>The cause of the bridge collapse is still under investigation.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Following the collapse, motorists are now forced to take a much longer route through Gattaran, Baggao, or Pe\u00f1ablanca, wherein travel time could take several hours, according to authorities.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A BRIDGE in Alcala, Cagayan on Monday collapsed.
