{"id":16965,"date":"2025-10-12T01:15:07","date_gmt":"2025-10-11T17:15:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/?p=16965"},"modified":"2025-10-12T01:34:16","modified_gmt":"2025-10-11T17:34:16","slug":"magnitude-6-2-quake-shakes-surigao-delsur","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/index.php\/2025\/10\/12\/magnitude-6-2-quake-shakes-surigao-delsur\/","title":{"rendered":"MAGNITUDE 6.2 QUAKE SHAKES SURIGAO DEL SUR"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>A MAGNITUDE 6.2 earthquake late Saturday night shook Surigao del Sur, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>The quake, which was tectonic in origin, was recorded at 10:32 p.m. with a depth of 10 kilometers.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>The epicenter of the tremor was located at 22 kilometers northeast of Cagwait town.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Intensity 4 was recorded at Cagwait and Carmen, Surigao del Sur; Cagayan de Oro City; Davao City; and Butuan City.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Intensity 3 was felt in Abuyog, Leyte; Hinunangan, Hinundayan, San Francisco, and Silago, Southern Leyte; Cabanglasan, Don Carlos, &nbsp;Malaybalay City , and San Fernando, Bukidnon; &nbsp;Bislig City, Surigao del Sur; and Mati City in Davao Oriental.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Damage and aftershocks are expected according to Phivolcs.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>MAGNITUDE 5.1 QUAKE JOLTS ZAMBALES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Meanwhile, a magnitude 5.1 earthquake on Saturday jolted the province of Zambales,  Phivolcs said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>The quake, which was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 102 kilometers, was felt at 5:32 p.m. with its epicenter located around 25 kilometers southeast of Botolan.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Intensity 3 was recorded in Botolan and Cabangan, Zambales while intensity 2 in Manila and Marikina.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Phivolcs said aftershocks may occur after the quake.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Surigao and Zambales tremors occurred a day after twin earthquakes struck off the coast of Davao Oriental.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>The first, with magnitude 7.4, occurred at 9:43 a.m. Firday while magnitude 6.8 earthquake was recorded at 7:12 p.m. of the same day, with epicenter at Manay town in Davao Oriental.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>On Sept. 30, a magnitude 6.9 quake hit off the northeastern part of Bogo City in Cebu.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A MAGNITUDE 6.2 earthquake late Saturday night shook Surigao del Sur, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
