{"id":18146,"date":"2026-01-08T08:03:01","date_gmt":"2026-01-08T00:03:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/?p=18146"},"modified":"2026-01-08T08:03:01","modified_gmt":"2026-01-08T00:03:01","slug":"doh-super-flu-detected-in-ph-not-alarming","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/index.php\/2026\/01\/08\/doh-super-flu-detected-in-ph-not-alarming\/","title":{"rendered":"DOH: \u2018SUPER FLU\u2019 DETECTED IN PH NOT ALARMING"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>THE Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday said the so-called \u201csuper flu\u201d recently detected in the Philippines is not a cause for alarm, even as health authorities continue to monitor the emergence of a new flu variant.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201c(It is) not alarming but there is a new variant out there,\u201d DOH Secretary Teodoro Herbosa said when asked about the \u201csuper flu\u201d during a Palace press briefing.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Herbosa said all the 17 cases of \u201csuper flu\u201d detected around July last year have recovered.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cAs we very well know, flu is a self-limiting illness, unless mayroon kang medical condition, elderly ka, so we still recommend the use of the flu vaccine,\u201d said the DOH chief.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Herbosa advised the public traveling to temperate countries or regions with relatively cold climates, particularly areas reporting the spread of the \u201csuper flu,\u201d to get vaccinated.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cI think the warning I will give is for Filipinos who will travel to temperate countries, who will go to North America, to the UK. If you\u2019re going there, be knowledgeable that there is a spread of the super flu in that area,\u201d Herbosa said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cMaybe get the northern hemisphere vaccine. That\u2019s my best advice for them.
