{"id":18244,"date":"2026-01-14T12:45:13","date_gmt":"2026-01-14T04:45:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/?p=18244"},"modified":"2026-01-14T12:45:13","modified_gmt":"2026-01-14T04:45:13","slug":"meralco-announces-reduction-in-electricity-rates-this-january","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/index.php\/2026\/01\/14\/meralco-announces-reduction-in-electricity-rates-this-january\/","title":{"rendered":"MERALCO ANNOUNCES REDUCTION IN ELECTRICITY RATES THIS JANUARY"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>MANILA Electric Company (Meralco) has announced that it will reduce power rates for the January 2026 billing<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Meralco said this is due to lower transmission charges and reduced prices in the spot market and contract rates.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The company said electricity rates this month would be slashed by P0.1637 per kilowatt hour (kWh), bringing down the overall rate for a typical household to P12.9508 per kWh.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>This means that a typical household consuming 200 kWh a month would see a reduction of about P33 in their electricity bill.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Those with a monthly consumption of 300 kWh will see a \u20b149 reduction in their electricity bill, \u20b165 for those consuming 400 kWh, and \u20b182 for those consuming 500 kWh, Meralco said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cWhile there were upward pressures on certain cost components this January, overall electricity rates declined\u00a0 for the second straight month.
