{"id":18633,"date":"2026-02-07T10:54:31","date_gmt":"2026-02-07T02:54:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/?p=18633"},"modified":"2026-02-07T10:54:31","modified_gmt":"2026-02-07T02:54:31","slug":"gatchalian-sounds-alarm-on-surge-of-love-scams-ahead-of-valentines-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/index.php\/2026\/02\/07\/gatchalian-sounds-alarm-on-surge-of-love-scams-ahead-of-valentines-day\/","title":{"rendered":"GATCHALIAN SOUNDS ALARM ON SURGE OF LOVE SCAMS AHEAD OF VALENTINE\u2019S DAY"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>AS <\/strong><strong>Valentine\u2019s Day approaches, Senator Win Gatchalian warned the public against a more sophisticated breed of \u201clove scams\u201d that now leverage artificial intelligence (AI) and, in certain cases, even lead to the sexual exploitation of victims.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Gatchalian made the call following a warning from the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) about the growing risk of AI-driven love scams targeting people seeking romantic relationships. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>CICC data showed that in 2025, it received 123 formal complaints, with cases typically peaking from January to February, as well as in June and October.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cDespite the national ban on POGOs, criminal syndicates continue to exploit loopholes through various schemes, including love scams.
