Marcos Jr. certifying as urgent the bill granting authority to suspend or reduce excise taxes on petroleum products,\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>During the Senate Ways and Means Committee hearing on March 11, Tulfo warned against limiting tax relief solely to diesel-based sectors.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cLet us not leave the motorcycle-riding public behind. They use gasoline for their motorcycles, so we cannot limit the excise tax suspension on diesel alone,\u201d Tulfo stated.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u201cThere are 8.5 million Filipinos who use motorcycles on a daily basis; many of them use it to go to work and others use it for their livelihood,\u201d he added.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cWhat\u00a0will\u00a0happen\u00a0to\u00a0them\u00a0if\u00a0we\u00a0do\u00a0not\u00a0include\u00a0gasoline\u00a0in\u00a0the\u00a0suspension?,\u201d he asked.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>In response, Department of Finance (DOF) Undersecretary Karlo Adriano confirmed that the Development Budget Coordination Committee (DBCC) and the Department of Energy (DOE) are preparing a holistic recommendation for the President\u2019s approval that will consider these concerns.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>POLITICIANS PROHIBITED IN FUEL SUBSIDY DISTRIBUTION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Beyond tax relief, the chairman of the Senate Committee on Social Justice, Welfare, and Rural Development issued a stern warning against the politicization of government aid.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tulfo emphasized that with fuel subsidies currently reaching PUV drivers and fisherfolk, there must be zero tolerance for political grandstanding.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cWe have policies in place prohibiting the intervention of politicians.
