{"id":19772,"date":"2026-04-24T02:26:04","date_gmt":"2026-04-23T18:26:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/?p=19772"},"modified":"2026-04-24T02:26:04","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T18:26:04","slug":"pagasa-issues-el-nino-alert","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/index.php\/2026\/04\/24\/pagasa-issues-el-nino-alert\/","title":{"rendered":"PAGASA ISSUES EL NI\u00d1O ALERT  \u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Wednesday issued an <\/strong><strong>El Ni\u00f1o alert.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The state weather bureau said there\u2019s a high probability that this phenomenon would develop from June\u00a0to August and may likely persist until early 2027.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-t=\"{&quot;n&quot;:&quot;blueLinks&quot;,&quot;t&quot;:13,&quot;a&quot;:&quot;click&quot;,&quot;b&quot;:76}\"><strong>PAGASA said there was a 79 percent chance of El Ni\u00f1o during the specified period, or a situation wherein a drier-than-usual conditions, including dry spells and droughts in parts of the country, might happen.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>PAGASA administrator Dr. Nathaniel Servando explained that El Ni\u00f1o is characterized by &#8220;cooler-than-average sea surface temperature over the Philippine Sea and warmer-than-average sea surface temperature in the Central and Eastern Equatorial Pacific.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;During an El Ni\u00f1o event, there is an increased possibility of drier-than-usual conditions, which can lead to negative impacts such as drought and dry spells in some parts of the country,&#8221; he said.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>However, PAGASA said above-normal rainfall might still be experienced over the country\u2019s western section during the southwest monsoon or habagat season.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-t=\"{&quot;n&quot;:&quot;blueLinks&quot;,&quot;t&quot;:13,&quot;a&quot;:&quot;click&quot;,&quot;b&quot;:76}\"><strong>Servando said the bureau was closely monitoring the developments so it could provide the necessary advisories to the public.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Wednesday issued an El Ni&ntilde;o alert.
