{"id":2857,"date":"2024-01-01T03:32:58","date_gmt":"2023-12-31T19:32:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/?p=2857"},"modified":"2024-01-01T03:32:59","modified_gmt":"2023-12-31T19:32:59","slug":"4-year-old-boy-loses-fingers-to-firecracker","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/index.php\/2024\/01\/01\/4-year-old-boy-loses-fingers-to-firecracker\/","title":{"rendered":"4-YEAR-OLD BOY LOSES FINGERS TO FIRECRACKER"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!-- wp:image {\"id\":2858,\"sizeSlug\":\"full\",\"linkDestination\":\"none\"} --><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"770\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/putol.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2858\" srcset=\"https:\/\/journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/putol.png 770w, https:\/\/journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/putol-300x156.png 300w, https:\/\/journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/putol-768x399.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 770px) 100vw, 770px\"><\/figure>\n<p><!-- \/wp:image --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>THE Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday reported that a four-year-old boy from Central Luzon lost all five fingers due to a firecracker injury.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>The boy also sustained a neck injury.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>According to the DOH, the child was lighting a &#8220;dart bomb&#8221; in their home when it suddenly exploded on his right hand.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Dart bomb&#8221; is an illegal firecracker.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>The DOH expressed concern about how deadly and illegal firecrackers can reach the hands of young children.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>The incident was one of the eight fireworks-related injuries that the DOH logged from 6 a.m. Saturday to 5:59 a.m. Sunday.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>The new cases are all males, with the oldest aged 37.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>The agency said firework-related injuries (FWRI) reached 115 since December 21.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Forty-four cases came from the National Capital Region, followed by Central Luzon (13) and Ilocos region (13).<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Soccsksargen had nine cases, Calabarzon had six cases; and Cagayan Valley, Bicol Region and Western Visayas recorded five cases each.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>In Eastern Visayas, fireworks-related injuries rose to six as of Sunday.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, a nine-year-old boy from Burauen, Leyte sustained head and eye injuries from&nbsp;<em>lantaka<\/em>&nbsp;(portable cannon); and a 33-year-old male from Guiuan, Eastern Samar suffered multiple injuries in the lower extremities due to&nbsp;<em>kwitis<\/em>&nbsp;(mini skyrocket).<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>The previous four victims were aged 6, 8, 11 and 24, all males.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>The DOH said most of the firecracker injuries occurred at home and on the streets..<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Prior to the New Year festivities, police have confiscated millions of pesos worth of banned firecrackers.
