Ann Matibag has boosted the Sampaguita planting industry to enrich the environment of her hometown and uplift the lives of her people.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>With the support of Sen. Loren Legarda in protecting the country\u2019s vast nature and environment, the 40-year-old lawmaker has continued and doubled her Sampaguita planting programs all over San Pedro early this year, reviving the city as the Philippines\u2019 Sampaguita capital.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cIt\u2019s February, and it\u2019s Valentine\u2019s month, so I encourage everyone to give our loved ones with fresh bouquet of Sampaguita instead of roses,\u201d the San Pedro solon said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are optimistic that the Sampaguita industry will continue to bloom nationwide with our project,\u201d she added.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Matibag, together with the people, teachers, school personnel, barangay officials, TUPAD workers and other constituents, are planting Sampaguita on vacant lots, schools and other venues in the 27 barangays to sustain one of the city\u2019s main livelihood programs throughout the years.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>She has a partnership with the School District Office that already started last year to plant Sampaguita in school gardens.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>The member of the Housing and Urban Development, Natural Resources and Trade and Industry committee in the House of Representatives headed by Speaker Martin Romualdez encouraged the people and her fellow lawmakers to support the local Sampaguita industry.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cWith this program, we are not only helping the livelihood of the people of San Pedro, but we are also promoting the great culture of our city,\u201d Matibag said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cSampaguita industry is the symbol of our city and we\u2019re proud that it\u2019s blooming again,\u201d she added.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>She also expressed gratitude to Sen. Legarda\u2019s support of the DOLE\u2019s Integrated Livelihood Program \u201cKabuhayan\u201d to the city, where Sampaguita growing as one of the programs that provide basic business opportunities and jobs to the people.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cWe are very thankful to House Speaker Martin Romualdez and Sen. Loren Legarda for helping us with our Sampaguita livelihood projects. Sampaguita is the symbol of our people for so many decades,\u201d she said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>The City of San Pedro in Laguna, according to Matibag, is known for its Sampaguita plants and flowers for the past few decades, which oil can be used to make soaps, perfumes, cosmetics, deodorants silks for clothing, and herbal medicines.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SAMPAGUITA industry has started to bloom in San Pedro City, Laguna.
