BUREAU of Immigration (BI) agents at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) arrested a South Korean man wanted by authorities in Seoul for a string of criminal cases due to his involvement in counterfeit currency trading.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n In a report to Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco, the BI\u2019s Border Control and Intelligence Unit (BCIU) identified the Korean as 26-year-old Jang Junseok.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Junseok was intercepted at the NAIA Terminal 1 last April 7 after attempting to board a Philippine Airlines flight to Busan, South Korea.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Korean was arrested after his name prompted a hit in the BI\u2019s derogatory list indicating that he is subject of a watchlist order from the Bureau as well as of a red notice issued by the Interpol.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Junseok was barred from boarding his flight and brought to the BI warden facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City pending deportation proceedings.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n According to BI-Interpol acting chief Jaime Bustamante, a warrant for Junseok\u2019s arrest was issued by the Daegu District Court in South Korea on Feb. 28, 2024 after a case for possession and trading counterfeit currency was filed against the suspect.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Junseok was described by authorities as a professional counterfeit currency user who forged South Korean bank notes, used them at will and engaged in acts that disrupted social order.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The suspect reportedly has six prior convictions for the same criminal offense but was released on parole in 2023.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n While on parole, Junseok allegedly continued to forge bank notes and used a pseudonym to cheat his victims who were offered the fake bank notes at lower prices compared to the genuine notes.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The value of the currency notes he allegedly forged amounted to more than 30 million won, or about US$22,000.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" BUREAU of Immigration (BI) agents at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) arrested a South Korean man wanted by authorities in Seoul for a string<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":4977,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[3],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/4976"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=4976"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/4976\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":4978,"href":"https:\/\/journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/4976\/revisions\/4978"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/4977"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=4976"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=4976"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=4976"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
