{"id":5281,"date":"2024-04-24T01:03:53","date_gmt":"2024-04-23T17:03:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/?p=5281"},"modified":"2024-04-24T01:03:55","modified_gmt":"2024-04-23T17:03:55","slug":"10-die-after-2-navy-choppers-collided-mid-air-in-malaysia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/index.php\/2024\/04\/24\/10-die-after-2-navy-choppers-collided-mid-air-in-malaysia\/","title":{"rendered":"10 DIE AFTER 2 NAVY CHOPPERS COLLIDED MID-AIR IN MALAYSIA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>TEN crew members on Tuesday died when two Malaysian navy helicopters collided in mid-air during a rehearsal for a naval parade in Malaysia.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>The identities of the victims, who died on the spot, were being verified.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>According to the Malaysian Navy  the bodies of the victims were sent to the Lumut Naval Base Military Hospital for identification.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Malaysian Navy said the tragedy occurred at 9:32 a.m. at \u00a0Lumut Naval Base in the western state of Perak.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0A video circulating on local media showed several helicopters flying in formation, when one of the choppers&#8217; rotor clipped another before both aircraft crashed into the ground.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Navy said it would conduct an investigation into what caused the incident.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>According to Malaysian Defense Minister Mohamed Khaled Nordin, the aircrafts &#8211; a maritime operations helicopter and a Fennec military chopper &#8211; were rehearsing for a parade celebrating the 90th anniversary of the Royal Malaysian Navy due to be held on Saturday when the accident occurred.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TEN crew members on Tuesday died when two Malaysian navy helicopters collided in mid-air during a rehearsal for a naval parade in Malaysia.
