{"id":5655,"date":"2024-05-08T00:52:57","date_gmt":"2024-05-07T16:52:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/?p=5655"},"modified":"2024-05-08T00:52:58","modified_gmt":"2024-05-07T16:52:58","slug":"pagasa-on-severe-heat-the-worst-is-over","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/index.php\/2024\/05\/08\/pagasa-on-severe-heat-the-worst-is-over\/","title":{"rendered":"PAGASA ON SEVERE HEAT: THE WORST IS OVER"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>THE Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the worst is over in terms of the record-high temperatures and extreme heat.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>According to PAGASA, many areas in the country may possibly experience thunderstorms in the second half of May.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>PAGASA climate monitoring and prediction section chief Ana&nbsp;Liza&nbsp;Solis, in a radio interview, said &nbsp;it is possible that the hottest temperature for this year has been recorded after an actual temperature of 40.3 degrees Celsius was observed in Tarlac on April 27.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cHopefully, this is the hottest daytime temperature for this year,\u201d Solis said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>However, she said many areas could still experience a high heat index between 45 and 48 degrees Celsius.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>According to her, there is a 60 percent possibility that La Ni\u00f1a will prevail in June, July and August.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cThe peak of El Ni\u00f1o is in March, April and May. Many areas have already declared a state of calamity and hopefully this will not increase,\u201d &nbsp;the PAGASA official said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Solis noted that localized thunderstorms could occur in the second half of May.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cThis will lessen the high heat index that we are experiencing.
